Introduction
Everyday life can bring challenges and can awaken feelings such as anxiety, depression, stress or loss. This can leave you with a sense of feeling unable to manage or cope. Or you might feel stuck or unsure of the direction you want to move within your life. It can be hard to deal with these emotions and experiences alone. Sometimes it can be too difficult to talk to family or friends.
Attending therapy can help you understand and explore unpleasant feelings and emotions, uncertainties and difficult experiences. Working through issues you can develop greater insight, and this can help you grow and move forward.
At Group Analytic Practice (GAP) you are supported to explore and understand these thoughts and feelings. Therapy can help you get the most out of life and work.

Getting started
When you first contact Group Analytic Practice (GAP) either directly or following a referral from your GP, you are scheduled for an initial 50 minute Exploratory Session with one of the Practice Directors.
The purpose of this session is to gain an understanding of your issues of concern, establish if psychotherapy or counselling would suit you, and explore if the services in GAP meet your particular needs.
Following a review by the Practice Directors, a suitable therapy is identified and you are then referred on to an appropriate therapist within the Practice, with availability at a time that works for you.
The fee for the Exploratory Session is €80.

Group Therapy
Group Therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a trained group analyst works with up to eight people together as a group. The group meets face-to-face for 1.5hours on a weekly basis and works through issues important to each individual but as a group.
Group Therapy provides an opportunity for people of different ages, backgrounds and with varying issues to talk, share, explore and gradually develop insight into their patterns of relating. This process results in greater self-awareness and over time can lead to improved confidence and an increased capacity for healthy relationships.
Group Analytic Practice currently has 15 therapy groups running per week.

Individual Therapy
Individual Psychotherapy and Counselling involves meeting regularly (usually weekly) with a qualified therapist for one-to-one appointments.
The setting provides a safe place to explore difficulties in depth and without judgement. As the relationship between you and the therapist develops, communication becomes the basic tool to bring about insight.
